Yoga
Hatha Yoga is an ancient discipline that explores, develops, and integrates the body, mind, and spirit. Yoga systematically stretches and strengthens muscles throughout the body, increases circulation to internal organs and glands, quiets the nervous system, and improves concentration. This ancient system of self-care brings vitality, health, deep relaxation, and peace of mind.
The style of Hatha Yoga taught is primarily the Sivananda method. Sivananda Yoga is a style of yoga that is heart-oriented, spiritually inspiring, yet grounded in a deep knowledge of optimal body alignment and focus on correct use of breath. I encourage students to listen to their body, respect its wisdom, and to progress at their own pace. Deep relaxation using the different elements is taught in each class before and after completion of the postures. My intention is to provide personalized attention to students in the development of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being: a truly priceless health advantage.
The course offers 8 classes a month, two sessions a week, Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at 6:30 pm. ‘Clay’ provides, a non-competitive and encouraging atmosphere, and a beautiful studio space for the practice of yoga.
Conscious Touch
In our human body, the breath , the heartbeat, the craniosacral rhythm and the electro magnetic or ‘aura’ are all gateways into ‘this moment’ when utilized and touched consciously. The brain and spine, all the joints of the musculo- skeletal system and the nerves, can easily be contacted in a natural way that promotes well being. The synergy of muscles, organs and energy center ‘chakras’, when touched with awareness and sensitivity, can be experienced and valued by everyone.
When we keep it simple, look deep and are not afraid of spontaneous life energy (tension, fear, pain) ‘Conscious touch’ becomes a way of sharing health, love and the essence of meditation…
A session of conscious touch may include (in 90Min):
- Very soft, silent touching focusing on the natural breath, heartbeat and the oceanic breath of the craniosacral system.
- Whole body massage, promoting a deep sense of relaxation and inner peace.
- Moving, rhythmic, liquid touches focusing on spinal rebalancing, sensory nerve flow, and each musculo- skeletal articulation.
- Deep pressure, 3 dimensional touch , focusing on energy lines of thai yoga massage, Indian tantric yoga, Japanese hara awareness and the deep intrinsic muscles of the body
- The touch of ‘metta’ or loving kindness, focusing on the energy of the face , head and the heart charkas, as well as other centers of the body
Conscious touch may be used to promote health, sensitivity, flexibility, and more importantly as a door to expanded consciousness.
